The Galactic Trade Commision

History: IC

A time before the Sacking of Coruscant the business of trade was rife, with many businesses competing for particular trade routes between various star systems. The swift and brutal attack from the Sith Empire however left traders in fear and unwilling to leave the comfort of their planets to travel into deep space. During this time a newly-formed trading company stood tall above them all. They were simply known as the Galactic Trade Commission. The republic applauded their willingness to enter the farthest reaches of space to deliver vital supplies to systems that were cut off from the rest of civilization, especially during these harsh times. Their bravery it seemed knew no bounds.
However there was a catch to this organization doing this dangerous deed for the galaxy. The cost for goods rose. The Galactic Credit inflation rate has increased severely over this war. With the Galactic Credit already rising at a phenomenal rate, the Galactic Trade Commission did not help matters by driving the costs of goods sky high. This has become very controversial over the course of this corporations existence.
By the time the Treaty of Coruscant was signed the companies that were once too afraid to commerce with outer region planetary systems decided now was the time to re-emerge, knowing full well that although the attacks were still happening, they had decreased rapidly. However, strange occurrences started happening in the vast world of intergalactic business. Trade routes were being blocked by unmarked ships. Shipments were mysteriously disappearing. The illegal spice trade had tripled in a very short time. Pirates on the Outer-Rim territories had ceased attacking vessels so frequently. One peculiar thing that seemed to stay continuous was the growth of the Galactic Trade Commission's empire, which at this time appeared to be going from strength to strength, almost seemingly eliminating all competition. It was at this stage that the various republican committees of trade alliances started to get suspicious and were forced to ask themselves the question...

Beginning
Edit
The Galactic Trade Commision was first created by Torgal (his name was changed to Veyl), who envisioned to make a neutral guild in amidst all the Sith and Jedi guilds, labelling his "Non-Force-User". This policy was unorthodox at the time but brought in streams of recruits that wanted to make a name for themselves as bounty hunters and smugglers. The GTC's structure was mainly based off the Exchange, with Torgal sitting at the helm as High Vigo and his four most loyal followers at the time, Starkiller, Raistlin, DarkApocalypse and Sureshot who commanded the Blue, Red, Gold and Green groups respectively, with Torgal head of his own Black group. This changed however, as Starkiller left the guild, stealing many of it's unique ideas to fuel his own, going against Torgal and his fellow Vigos. Sureshot also left to make a guild for himself but with very different ideals and on good terms, keeping good relations with everyone. This effectively removed the Blue and Green groups leaving the Red, Gold and Black. For a time, things were stable and the unique nature of the GTC appealed to many. However, for reasons undisclosed, Torgal then left the guild as a shock to the guild. At this point, the Black Group was removed, and instead of finding a new High Vigo, the GTC changed structure into a Council formation, creating two more groups. The Blue Group returned under the leadership of Davan Kelhur and the Grey Group was formed with Typho Raame at the helm.
Structure
Edit
Leadership
Edit
As of now, the leadership of the GTC is currently a council formation. Previously it was Authoritarian, though the Vigos had a lot of power, they were under the eye and command of the High Vigo. It was a Federation of sorts, with the groups united under the command of the Black Group. Now, it is more of a Confederacy, though still Authoritarian.
The power of the guild is divided up equally between each of the four groups. On important decisions, a group vote will most likely be taken though each of the Vigos has the power to work without authorisation from other Vigos, within reason. Although there has been no true display of it, it is thought that members that are not Vigos will have some political sway in the decisions made. Each group goes under the banner of the GTC and they are all together. Trust is an important part in this structure though it would appear that the careful selection of the Commissioners (and Vigos in the beginning) means that it is not likely that they will ruin the guild from the inside, as they are extremely loyal to each other and to the GTC as a whole.
Groups
Edit
The Galactic Trade Commision is made up of a series of groups. Once a member, you are catagorised into one of three groups. There used to be five groups, of which Sureshot was once a Vigo, yet over time, this was reduced to three, but has gone back up to four recently. In the current moment, groups don't mean anything and are rather a way to keep better track of the high numbers of members. Recruits don't have groups, but once they rank up, they will be put into one of the four. The member will then stay in that group until a decision is made to change. The groups are as follows:
Red: Raistlin is the Vigo of the group.
Gold: DarkApocalypse is the Vigo of the group.
Blue: Davan Kelhur is the Vigo of the group.
Grey: Typho Raame is the Vigo of the group.
Ranks
Edit
Vigo: There are four Vigos in the guild and they govern the flow of recruits, the decisions made, the changes mades and basicially the guild as a whole. No one Vigo is higher than the other so with large decisions, voting is done. Vigos were once the most loyal and consistant of followers to Torgal and so were promoted.
Commissioner: They hold some politicial power in the guild and are usually seen as second-in-commands for the Vigos. Their purposes vary, many just perform general duties though on paper they were primarily designed to control the influx of new recruits. They are some of the most loyal members.
Operative: Operatives are a step higher than Employees, promoted usually due to their higher levels of loyalty and activeness inside the guild. They have more power than employees and are the vanguard of many of the GTC's campaigns, though there are not many.
Employee: Numerous and with varying loyalties and goals, it was said by Torgal that the GTC is the employees. This is true to some extent as the employees by far make up the majority of the guild members. However, many remain inactive for a long time and they don't hold any rule political power.
Recruit: People who've made good applications become recruits and must prove their worth by remaining consistant to the guild, as well as performing a play-by-post RP with a higher member, usually a Commissioner or an Operative. These RPs are based around missions that they are hired to do. After completing it, they are promoted to Employee.
Special Ranks
Edit
Ambassador: Ambassadors are the members that will represent the whole of GTC to other Guilds, discuss all matters and take important decisions about the future between guilds. Ambassadors are decided from Vigos or between Vigos and the directors. Every member from Employee to Vigo can become an Ambassador.
Propaganda Agent: This specialised Agent finds out all the information in the guild and about TOR and displays it so that the guild may stay updated about what is happening. They are also the moderators of the Announcement threads and have some minor sway in how the guild is run and can function as organisers.

Policies

No Force-Users
Edit
Torgal created the guild with shady smugglers and spies in mind. As many guilds at the time were strictly Jedi or Sith, this was seen as unorthodox but added to the charm of the guild and is probably on of the main reasons why the guild recieves such a heavy influx of new members. The policy basically decrees that Sith, Jedi and force users (even grey ones) cannot join the guild. There are several flaws with this ideal. As the current moment, there is a good chance that two of the four classes for each faction could be force-users. This is especially bad for the guild if force-users make up important class-types in the game such as medics or tanks. However, the guild as a whole is strongly agreeing to this policy and it doesn't look like it will change any time soon.
Wide-Spanning
Edit
Not only does the GTC wish to span over both of the factions, but it also wants to go on two time-zones (American and European), possibly Oceanic but that remains to be seen. At the current moment, the guild is definately split as some wish to go on the Sith side for the Bounty Hunter and others want the Republic's Trooper and Smuggler. This is also split again as many of the guild members are from very different areas. Typho Raame, the Grey Vigo is actually Australian while DarkApocalypse is American and Davan is English. Raistlin is even Greek! As such, it is only natural that the guild will go over many time-zones but there are great problems with it. Firstly, splitting the guild two-fold may easily separate it. Secondly, having so many members from different areas will make it hard to keep track of them. At the current moment, the GTC is able to handle this but the game has yet to go onto Beta.
